EVHybridNoire Applauds Biden Administration for mandating 50% zero-emission vehicle sales, stricter emissions standards by 2030
LOS ANGELES—Today, the Biden administration issued an Executive Order mandating that 50 percent of all new vehicle sales be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2030. The Executive Order also includes proposals for new federal tailpipe pollution standards through 2026, which will be followed by even stricter requirements in following years. The administration’s push for ZEVs and tighter tailpipe emissions standards will lead to a significant improvement in air quality, especially for historically excluded communities, as the administration seeks to also eliminate 50 percent of economy-wide emissions by 2030.
“Electric vehicles and other e-mobility solutions have the potential to provide a cleaner and greener transportation future that will help address health, environmental, workforce and economic disparities, particularly for underrepresented communities that have been negatively impacted first and worst for decades by pollution-emitting vehicles,” said Terry Travis, Co-Founder of EVHybridNoire, the nation’s largest network of diverse electric vehicle drivers and enthusiasts. “In order to realize that vision, we have to advance bold plans like the Executive Order signed by the President today.”
“This action strategically positions the United States to capitalize on innovative job growth, increased economic competitiveness, and substantial improvements to environmental quality and public health,” Travis said. “EVHybridNoire looks forward to working closely with the White House, Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Transportation to continue strengthening proposed rulemaking and ensure that equity has a seat at the table.”
EVHybridNoire is the nation’s largest network of diverse electric vehicle (EV) drivers and enthusiasts. We work to advance EVs and multimodal e-mobility solutions across the U.S., and ensure those solutions are inclusive and equitable. We do that by engaging with communities often left out of e-mobility discussions, advocating for e-mobility solutions in underserved communities, and shifting the narrative about e-mobility to be more inclusive of diverse populations with electric, connected, autonomous and shared mobility. We envision a world where all communities are free of air pollution from cars and trucks, and everyone can reap the benefits of electric vehicles and other e-mobility solutions.
